About Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce is one of the pioneer departments of the college started in 1999, aims at developing knowledge, skill, attitudes and values among students through dynamic and interactive methods of learning. Considering the demands of the program, now the department is functioning with B.Com (General) with 3 sections. Over the years Department of Commerce adheres to the vision and mission of the college, which emerges with excellence by imparting quality education based on values and discipline and grown remarkably to achieve its objectives jointly with the dedicated team of experienced and qualified faculty members. The M.Com degree program is offered in college from the year 2013. The department trains the students to cope up with the fast changing environment by making them highly competent.

The Bachelor of Commerce is an undergraduate university authorized college three year study course of commerce, subject for obtaining a degree after passing 10+2.

Objectives Of The Department

To build the conceptual foundation in area of commerce.
To equip them with accounting and entrepreneurial skills.
To integrate knowledge and skills that will sustain Environment of learning and creativity.
To encourage students to pursue a professional course.
To build the life skills through value based education.

Scope of the Study

There is a sea of options in Commerce stream to make a bright career. After the completion of graduation one can opt for M.Com and go in for Ph.D. degree in their respective subject who can help in getting a respectable profession Teaching. Students can pursue CS (Company Secretary), CA (Chartered Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CMA (Cost and Management Accountant) after B.Com with more confidence.

There will be a wider choice of job opportunities both in Government and in Private for B.Com and M.Com degree graduates. Our College Placement committee is training the students with more competencies to offer their candidature in the job market.

The syllabus supports the students to become an entrepreneur. In addition to that, our College entrepreneurship committee motivate and train the students to become successful entrepreneurs.

Functioning of Department

The ICT enabled teaching is given to the students to understand the concept easily.
The lesson plan, assignment plan, student’s seminar plan, etc is well scheduled and planned in advance and conducted accordingly.
The repeated revision and training is provided for the students who failed in continuous internal assessment tests.
Remedial classes are conducted for slow learners.
The department regularly conducts guest lectures, conferences, and Industrial visits for providing an opportunity to the students to ventilate their hidden talents and for the benefit of the academic community.

The department works as a team and has achieved many laurels.
Our department students have participated in many intercollegiate competitions and won places.
The department is proud to have students who have scored centum in the core subjects and secured University Rank.
In order to improve all-round performance of students and to provide personal attention, tutorial system has been introduced in the college. At the beginning of the academic year, students are divided into different batches and placed under the personal charge of a teacher, designated as Tutor. He/She will keep regular watch over the attendance, progress and conduct of the students under him/her and will give necessary guidance.
The department is proud of its very distinguished alumni who occupy very important positions.

INFRASTRUTURAL FACILITIES

Department of Commerce is situated on the ground floor and has spacious classrooms with adequate wooden furniture for the students Our Department has intercom facility which enables smooth communication among various departments and office. Department staff room and classrooms are provided with sufficient lights, fans, LCD projector, intercom and Computer with internet facilities. The Department has a well-equipped library with a vast collection of books and this becomes a powerhouse of resources that generate Knowledge. Department Notice Board displays information regarding co-curricular activities taking place in the College and other educational institutions. The Board also displays important notices and students are required to keep themselves up to date on College affairs.
