The objective of learning Tamil is to train and discipline the minds of students by imbibing

the values of life, ethical codes and the various aspects of life.
To create in them an awareness about the trend in modern thoughts and current events.
To motivate the students to acquire communicational skills and leadership qualities.
To prepare the students to aspire for research and to study abroad.
To motivate them to be socially conscious and responsible.
To encourage them to take part in the competitive examination conducted by the State
government.
SCOPE
Improving Tamil knowledge will help the students to appear for State Governments competitive
exams
Students who have not learnt Tamil so far will get an opportunity to learn, read and write
Tamil
language through Non Major elective
ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT
Tamil department produce good results.
Faculty participate in national and international seminar and conference to update their
knowledge
in the emerging areas.
Every year, Tamil department organizes inter collegiate competitions during ‘Kamarajar
birthday
celebration’ to exhibit the hidden skills of the students.
The department organised three National conferences to emphasis the need for studying Tamil
language
and encourage the students to present a paper to make them realize the significance of the
Tamil
language.
The department encourages the students to participate in competitions held in other colleges
and
win
laurels to our college.
The department use modern teaching methods to teach the students using smart board with ICT.
Tamil department conducted National conferences such as Valluvathil Vaazhviyal,
Arunthamizhil Ariviyal, Ilakkiyam – panmugappaarvai to enchance Tamil Language and bring out
its significance through students and Tamil aspirants.
Tamil department regularly organizes Kamarajar birthday celebration and conducts
competitions like Oratorical, Essay Writing, Poetry Writing and Drawing. By conducting
intercollegiate competition students are encouraged to display their talents and skills that
improve their personality to achieve success in their lives.
Tamil Department is proudly declared that the student S.Kowsalya has secured University 3rd
Rank in April 2016 and P.Thilagavathi has secured University 1st Rank in April 2017 in
TAMIL.
DEPARTMENT LIBRARY
The department has well equipped library with 154 books including journals, magazines.
Staff and students use this library to enrich their knowledge, to help them to prepare for
competitive examinations and pursue research.
Students use these books to participate in intra and inter collegiate competitions.
