National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) is a programme organized by the Ministry of Education and Youth Service to afford opportunities and training in service to the community and to the Nation.

Four National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) units, with a total strength of 400 students are functioning in the College. They are under the control of programme officers, who conducts the activities of the N.S.S. as per the rules stipulated by the University of Madras. The aim of N.S.S. is to inculcate the spirit of service to society and to render useful service to the community.

Each student attending the N.S.S will be required to put in 120 hours of service activity each academic year and he/she will be expected to maintain a diary showing details of his/her participation duly countersigned by the programme officer.

A various service programmes related to Community Welfare are conducted under the N.S.S Programme. The college honors the best NSS students by providing an award titled 'Best NSS Volunteers' onn completion of their three tears term. Members are expected to participate in all the training programmes and work-camps organized from time to time.
